"The Zoological Museum of Moscow State University presented its digital double to the public on the Day of Russian Science on February 8. For the first time the largest university museum of the country will show scientific collections in the online space," - stated in the message.
MSU Rector Viktor Sadovnichy noted that the digitalization of scientific collections is an important step in accounting for scientific heritage and said that the Zoological Museum holds one of the largest collections of objects of the world fauna.
Director of the Zoological Museum of Moscow State University Mikhail V. Kalyakin said that the purpose of the digital copy of the museum is to create "a positive experience of interaction between the virtual visitor and the virtual exposition.
